Check It Out!

Go To the Source,
When I was a child, we used to play a game called ‘pass it on’ in which we gathered in a circle and one person
would begin the game by whispering a sentence to one person, that person in turn would whisper what they
heard into the next person’s ear, and so on until the last person would repeat out loud, what they had heard.
This sentence was almost never what the first person had said, revealing the inaccuracy of second hand information. A fun game, but not reliable for instruction, unless, of course, we learn never to repeat something unless we first ‘check it out’ with the source.
As I grow older, I am amazed sometimes at what I hear about my life. Often I hear remarks like, “Almond Roca is your favorite candy’ or ‘how come you prefer to read the King James Bible over some other version’ or “Mom really wants to do ???” Check it out with the source!
That is why it is so very important to check out your information, and double check from the source, so the statements you make are reliable. This is of greatest importance when you are dealing with the subject of ‘Eternal life” and ‘Salvation”. There are many statements made, many doctrines taught, many ideas presented for us to examine, but for the sake of your eternal soul, please, check them out, and compare them with the source, The Holy Bible, written by men who were inspired by the Holy Ghost. This is the infallible Word of God. It is the ‘Lamp unto my feet’ which will guide our steps in the way the Lord would have us to walk. We are encouraged to ‘search the scriptures’ for in them we have eternal life.
Of course, God has given us Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists to lead us in our efforts to gain the Kingdom of God, but this does not infer that we are not to study 'to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth’. Only as you eat healthy foods, will your body remain healthy, and so it is with your spirit. If you do not ‘consume’ a regular supply of the spiritual food from the Word of God, His letter, or in modern language, His text message, to us, your spirit will wither and die, or worse scenario, we will become deceived by teachers who are not proclaiming spiritual truth.

When Jesus left this earth, He sent the Holy Spirit to come to us as our teacher, our helper, our comforter and ‘spiritual’ guide. As you hear or read teachings, no matter the source, always PRAY, and ASK Him, the Holy Spirit, to reveal the perfect truth from your Father. In the Bible, we read so many times about the people being led astray by a false prophet or false teacher who misled them for profit or selfish gain. Even the first story in regards to interpretation of God’s Words is read in Genesis Chapter 3. Eve had a direct message from God, yet she was ‘mis-directed’ by the serpent as he changed the message to mean what he wanted it to say, resulting in an egregious sin. Many doctrines have evolved since the early church, and man has found new ways to accomplish the work of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, Redeemer, Soon Coming King, but it is very important to remember the MESSAGE and the MESSENGER have NOT changed. His Word abides forever, and OUR GOD CHANGES NOT!!
