"You must be Born Again"

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
For you shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name, Emmanuel, for He shall save His people from their sin.

Jesus was sent by His Father, and He came in complete obedience, to fulfill Genesis 3:15.
He prayed, “Not my will, but Thine be done” and lived His life in obedience to His Father.
Born in the flesh, in the image of sinful man, yet He remained without sin. The time He spent on this earth, clothed in humanity, yet remaining free from sin so He could become the pure lamb of God which took away the curse of death on those who were born in the sinful nature of man, that they might become ‘the sons of God’.

In John the third chapter, we read about a religious man who came to ask Jesus, “What must I do to inherit the kingdom of God”. The answer reveals what each human must do if they wish to spend eternity in the presence of the Heavenly Father, and their Redeemer, Jesus Christ, Emmanuel, the Son of God who took away the penalty of sin which is upon mankind. Jesus answered, “You must be born again”. Like Nicodemus, we all ask the question, “How can I be born again?” The answer is very simple when we read the reply from our Lord.
Since we are physical and spiritual beings, we must confess to the sinful nature we were born with, the flesh, and be born again, anew, born of the spirit. Jesus answered; you must be born of the water and of the spirit.
After we acknowledge our sinful nature, we repent of the sins (turn away from) which we have committed, turn from that old life and begin a life of obedience to our Father.

What does that mean? Simply that as we learn more about the love, commands, examples which our Lord gave to us, we follow them with our whole heart. We are not left alone to decide what our life should be like after our ‘new birth’. Jesus said, “to as many as believe on my name, I give power to become the sons of God.” He tells us that the burden we will carry is not heavy because He will help us carry the load. No longer the load of sin, but we are now walking in the spirit, a new life of peace and blessing from our Lord. Oh, yes, we still fight the good fight of faith, against the spiritual wickedness in this world, against the spiritual darkness which tries to put out the light which we have received. But always remember this, “He that is in you, is greater than he that is in the world”. Christ defeated evil, dispelled the darkness, overcame the enemy, His and ours. That spiritual enemy will deceive you in every possible way, enticing you to walk after the ways of the world and the flesh, but always remember the words of our Lord. “I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD”.
Jesus, Emmanuel, came to save us from the curse of separation from God. He bought our freedom with His blood on Calvary. He rose again as an example of our eternal life. Can we celebrate His birth, life, death, eternal life every day of our life by accepting His offer of redemption?
Celebrate His life and death by being “Born again”.
Do not let His sacrifice be in vain!
