My Child

How should I raise my child?
This gift from the Father above.
I read in His Word all the wisdom
Needed to fulfill my task with love.

Train them to listen to His spirit
Of wisdom, mercy and grace
Teach them to seek often
The Father’s loving face.

Show them obedience and faith.
As you walk in the path set for you
Teach them the fruit of the Spirit
Practiced in all that you do.

For God who gave us our children
Did not expect us to follow the rules
Set down in books written by others
So unlearned in His wisdom.

He chooses to give to His own.
A wisdom unknown to others,
But followed by His dear children,
Mercy, forgiveness and love.
