A birthday tribute to Penny Taylor Stewart .
Born March 2, 1918. He went to receive his reward on Easter Sunday, April 12,1998.
A sinner saved by grace! A man with a Servant's heart who strongly believed in the Born Again experience, who lived his life following his conversion with the purpose of winning the lost for Jesus. He believed and practiced the prayer of healing for the sick, deliverance for those in bondage, and walking a narrow path with his Lord, staying as far away from evils of this world as was possible. He was greatly loved and is missed every day. Our hope is to meet him "in the meeting in the air" when our Lord returns.
Soon after I surrendered my life to the Lord in October of 1949, I received my first confirmation that my Lord had heard and was answering my prayer. As I sought the Lord, fervently, my thoughts were turned to the Book of Isaiah 59:1
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.”
My prayer concerned the salvation of my husband. I wanted so much for him to know the peace and joy that I had found in the Lord. I desired for him to join me in serving this great and mighty God that I had found. My prayer was, ‘Lord, please save my husband, at any cost”.
And the Lord heard, and he answered, and graciously gave me this promise to hold on to until my husband would respond to the call of the Holy Spirit.
The Lord moved in some very special ways to make this happen.
He sent someone into the bar where my husband was and he asked him,” Do you know Jesus as your Savior?”
The Holy Spirit moved on his heart to leave the den of iniquity, give our home to a Pastor, move our small family to another State, and cause him to hear the message of “Are you Born Again?”. Then my Savior became his Savior, and we served the Lord together for many years, many souls were added to the kingdom, and many were healed and delivered from evil spirits, because God, my Rock, my Strength, my Joy, my Crown was faithful to answer a simple, fervent prayer of a young convert. All this happened within eight short months!
Does God answer prayer?
The Holy Scripture says He does!
The testimony of many who pray says He does!
Practice His will, live for Him; God will answer your prayer.
Is it always the answer you pray for? Not always, but it will be according to His will, and you will find that it is a better answer than you could have hoped for or even imagined!
Read and study Isaiah 59 and also Romans chapter 3 verses 10 through 26.
Isaiah 59 verse 2 continues with these words, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you that he will not hear."
Romans 3 tell us that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. But God made a way for us to be able to come into His presence. He sent His Son to redeem us, to pay the penalty for our sin, that we could enter into the throne room and talk to God, directly. By faith, we can receive this promise and be justified by the blood of the Lamb of God who takes away our sin.
Enter into His presence and make your requests known to Him. Yes, He already knows, but He wants to hear your voice, wants to listen to your heart in conversation with Him. No man, no angel, no one as a go between, just YOU and YOUR GOD.
The Lord is our strength, our joy, our song! He is our soon coming King, and I want to be found faithful when He returns for those who trust in His salvation.
