The Promise At Work Then and Now

As we study John 14:15-18; Acts 1:8; Acts 2 1-4; John 16:13-17; Romans 8:26,27; ICorinthians 1:29,31; I Corinthians 6:19; I Cor. 12:4-11 we find the Holy Ghost at work just as Jesus promised that He would. The Holy Ghost grants to believers several gifts which when properly used will strengthen and encourage people to do the work to which they individually are called by Christ to perform. The Gifts of the Spirit are not a sign of any greater spiritual life of an individual. They are to be used ONLY to bring GLORY to the name of Christ, our Lord. The person being used is only an INSTRUMENT, a VESSEL, being used for the mutual benefit of the church, the Body of Christ. God controls the various operations of the gifts in each believer in whom the manifestation is given for the profit and edification of the Church.
The Apostle Paul instructed the believers to not seek the signs, but to benefit from the power which God had given to them to help one another through the Power of the Holy Ghost who enabled them to do the work which God had called each to perform. These gifts enable us to act as Christ did, doing the same works and acting as He did, which is our reflection of our Father. Thus we have His voice, and His power through the indwelling Holy Ghost. We must allow Him to work in and through us to tell the world of a Savior who will give to all believers the greatest gift of all, eternal life in His presence.
In this life the gifts are our source of power and wisdom in the Holy Ghost but all gifts must be operated and motivated by LOVE. He will rise to every occasion, whatever the need, whenever we ask, responding , rushing to our aide. He runs to our Assistaance, so seek to edify the Lord at all times. Covet earnestly the best gifts, claim the fullness of the Spirit and allow Him to work His will in your life that you might become a better witness, soul winner, servant to the Father.
Do all you do to bring glory and honor to the Lord. Love one another with Godly LOVE.
